Care Description
  • Care for maximum of 12 consecutive hours
  • No overnight stay
  • Care for 24 – 72 hours (1-3 Days)
  • Overnight stay permitted
  • 24-hour care for a child that lasts more than 72 hours & may last up to 14 days
Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Min. 1 year babysitting experience
  • Must be 3 years older than child being babysat
  • Complete Babysitter/Respite Application
  • Copy of each applicant’s Driver License
  • Copy of each applicant’s SSN Card
  • Complete Background Check Consent form
  • Complete FBI Fingerprinting Check
  • Out-of-state Central Registry Check (Onlyrequired if lived outside of Texas within theprevious 5 years)
  • Valid Infant & Child CPR & First Aid Card
  • Signed Confidentiality, EBI & Discipline Policy
  • === Complete all Babysitter requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years old (18 with waiver)
  • TB Test
  • Complete BCM T 1 & 2 T raining
  • Letter of Recommendation from 4KIDS family
  • Medication Training (Only if caring for childrenon prescription medication)
  • 4KIDS staff will conduct a Home Inspection (Only if respite is done in provider’s home)
  • If Care is being provided in Respite Caregiver’s home, all house residents over 14 must complete Background Check & TB Test
  • === Complete all Babysitter and Short- Term Caregiver requirements (except Babysitter Application)
  • Must be 21 years old (no exceptions)
  • Complete 4KIDS Foster Parent Application
  • Complete PIP 1, 2 & 3 Training
  • Complete Psychotropic Medication T raining
  • Complete Medical Consenter T raining
Guidelines
  • Babysitters may be asked to complete certain 4KIDS training classes if it is deemed necessary by 4KIDS staff in order to properly care for specific children in the foster/adopt home.
  • Foster parent must complete the Babysitter & Childcare Instructions Form with written information regarding the child’s care & emergency contact information & provide to babysitter upon dropping off the child. Foster parent must be available by phone in cases of emergency.
  • Foster/Adopt parents do not need approval before using approved babysitters, but they are required to inform their 4KIDS Case Manager prior to each use.
  • Children in Foster/Adopt care who are receiving Treatment Services (TS) may ONLY have Babysitters 18 years or older.
  • Foster/ Adopt parent must complete & submit the Overnight & Respite Care Pre-Approval form to notify 4KIDS of wanting short-term care.
  • Foster parent must complete Part 1 of the Short-Term and Respite Provider Information form & provide to the provider upon dropping off the child.
  • Provider must complete & sign Part 2 of the Overnight and Respite Provider Information form & return the form to foster parent upon returning the child.
  • Foster parent must submit the Respite Information form to Case Manager immediately but no longer than 10 days after services are provided.
  • 10 days advance notice is required if assistance is needed to find a short-term care provider.
  • Respite Care Procedures will be followed
  • Child may not exceed 40 days in Respite Care in a calendar year. There must be aminimum of 10 days in between Respitestays.
  • Verified foster homes may provide respitefor a maximum of 60 days annually. There must be a minimum of 10 days in between accepting Respite stays
  • Providers must maintain supervision ratios- 5 children to 1 adult (with no more than 2 Treatment Service children & 2 children under the age of 2).
  • Children must be in foster home 30 days prior to being placed in Respite Care
